Chicago Public Library STEM Centers

CPL Set To Open 15 STEM-Focused Early Learning Centers Following $2.5M Grant

Karis Hustad | August 4, 2015

Chicago Public Library has been quick to promote multimedia learning through its 80 branches across the city, with initiatives such as YOUmedia and WiFi hotspot checkouts that aim to bridge the digital divide.
Now they're extending that idea to the library's youngest patrons, thanks to a $2.5 million grant from Exelon Corporation.

Last week CPL and the Mayor's office announced that 15 library branches will get early learning STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) centers, including a 18,000-square-foot children's space in the Harold Washington Library.
