Bitcoin: The Movie

Two Recent Documentary Releases on Bitcoin

Both of these are available on Amazon Instant Video (included free on Amazon Prime). Each provides up-to-date information on Bitcoin. In particular, The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin helps to change some of the distortions about Bitcoin in the press as mainly a funding for illegal purchase of drugs on the Tor network, which is the image that has been given most attention. Third World countries have turned their concerns to this digital currency. It is not owned by a specific nation and it is not controlled by a specific nation. It is possible to do a transaction as low as a 5-cent-equivalent without incurring processing fees. In the U.S. charitable contributions may find up to 30% of the transaction going to pay processing fees. This seems to be eliminated with Bitcoin. The films raise the question about what our currency really represents. The light of the films can change how we view our own use of money and discuss workable alternatives to our existing banking systems.
